“There is a story being told at the end of my paint brush, sometimes I am telling the story and sometimes the canvas is telling me a story.  The meaning of the tale flows back and forth through my brush like the ocean tide.”

The Creative Urge

The creative impulse has always been an integral part of my life.  I cannot imagine a life without it.  I was blessed with parents who were amateur artists.  The dining room had to be cleared of projects before each meal and the house was permeated with the smell of oil paints. Although, I went to the University of Cincinnati for Nursing and Health and worked as a RN for 22 years, my  art supplies were always within reach.  In 1992, I returned to UC for a Bachelors Degree in Architecture and that became the primary outlet for my creative urge for many years. In 2015, I connected with Shiloh Sophia McCloud and her teachings on Intentional Creativity on line.  That began a whole new phase in my life.  From her, I learned to approach creativity as a spiritual practice for healing and spiritual growth. Since then I have explored creative expression as a profound method of communication with spirit. Each painting begins with a question, a prayer, or an intent. As the painting moves from abstract to images a pathway to the subconscious opens and reveals its message. The painting itself becomes the oracle, a communication with the divine. In this way the creation of art is activated by the processing of life, the inner self, and my link to the great mysteries of spirit. These paintings are deeply personal, a profound revelation of the issues on my mind, the questions in my heart and the searching of my soul. Others hear stories being told as well, for aren’t we all seeking something? Aren’t we all surrounded by mystery and finding our way through image and words?
